Pastor Melissa Scott reads a passage in the book of  Romans 5, when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.”

“For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputedAs we call Adam the first Adam in the book of Genesis, we call Christ the last Adam. “But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.” all with his disobedience and the proof of sin and death – just drive by a cemetery – there’s your proof right there. Satan said, “No, you can eat of anything here.” Now, who are you going to That is the staggering fact, that Adam, the first Adam contaminated us listen to? God or Satan? Because the cemeteries prove God was right when He said, “If you eat of this tree, the one that’s off limits, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you’ll surely die.” There is a cemetery across the street from our church that proves that fact. I think we can just testify to that right now, I want to say, “Amen.” That’s a truth.

“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came, “ that is Jesus Christ, “upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners,” – There’s nothing to add except to say by one man’s disobedience the whole world was plunged into sin. The whole world, not just some or a few, the whole world. Think of that staggering fact because that really blows my mind, the whole world! – “so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound; That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Now that is the summation, the sum total of the message when we talk about how often people will say, “I don’t need God’s Word and I don’t need to study and I don’t need a relationship with God.” Then you will stay in darkness because that’s what you choose. Just as Adam chose. The reality is we work so hard to keep people feeling good: “your best you yet”, “your finest hour is tomorrow”, “how to have success in the corporate ladder today.” If you want that information go out in the world and get it. But if you want success, in God’s eyes it starts with having a right relationship with Him. God is not going to look at the size of your wallet or how many hairs you have on your head, He already knows all about it. We have an irrelevant religion if it is only for the here and now. I want your hearts to be open in understanding that this is maybe the most important thing that I can share with you. We live in a world that is so overtaken with things that “replace” God. But if we will connect ourselves, hope is a wonderful thing if it’s attached to one name: Jesus. Because it’s not just hope in hope, it’s hope in things eternal. It’s hope that when this body is laid down, it will be raised up again. We will be with Him, we will see Him again. I believe in that.

There are many people who don’t believe in the born-again experience. There are many people who believe that after you die you’re laid in the grave and that’s that. Well then, why do you need Christianity if it ends when you die? Please give me something else to believe in, something else to worship that has less tribulation than this Christian walk, while I’m trying to figure out how to just fill my life with fun because if it ends here, boy it’s a real sorry thing. But it doesn’t. That’s the good news.
